I briefly addressed this in my Cardarine guide, but I want to write a full article on this topic, since it's one of the biggest myths I see floating around regarding Cardarine GW501516.
As I'll explain in this article, the idea that Cardarine causes you to develop cancer cells is entirely wrong, and based off of a poorly designed, outdated clinical trial.
Here's what we'll cover today:
- Does Cardarine Cause Cancer?
- Will Cardarine Increase My Cancer Risk?
- Has Anyone Gotten Cancer from Cardarine?
- Debunking the Cardarine Cancer Study
- …and more
So, if you're ready to learn the truth about Cardarine GW501516 and cancer development, and how the alleged cancer risk of Cardarine is totally overblown, then keep on reading.
Brief Overview of Cardarine
If you're reading this, I assume you're at least someone familiar with Cardarine GW501516, how it's used for burning fat, to boost metabolism, and boost physical endurance.
Cardarine has a ton of clinically proven benefits, like:
- Enhanced Physical Performance
- Fatty Acid Oxidation (Fat Burning)
- Glucose Metabolism (Also Fat Burning)
- Improved Blood Flow & Cardiovascular Health
- Improved Blood Lipids (Less CHolesterol)
- Encourages Lean Muscle Growth
- Lowers Insulin Resistance
- …and more
In fact, this compound was about to undergo human trials to see if it could be used to help treat liver disease, treat obesity, and help users increase fat burning, but then, the dumbest study of all time concluded that Cardarine can cause cancer development.
Here's what happened, and why the study is total and utter nonsense.
The Infamous Cardarine Cancer Study
At first it appeared Cardarine was a wonder drug. Evidence suggested it lowered risk of cardiovascular disease, protected against liver disease, could potentially treat metabolic syndrome, and on top of that could even be used for performance enhancement.
But, it wasn't long until the infamous “Cardarine cancer study” was published, and due to potential significant adverse effects, human studies were stopped before they even began.
The idea that Cardarine caused cancer can be directly linked back to not even a series of clinical trials, but rather one set of clinical data presented at the 48th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology in 2009. [R]
The study reported that Cardarine GW501516 caused rapid cancer growth to occur in the organs of Hans Wistar rats, lab rats commonly used in animal testing models.
After administering a Cardarine dosage of 3mg/kg/day for 2 years, scientists found that the rats were developing cancer at an unprecedented rate. They noted the cancer formation on liver cells, muscle cells, and other organs, concluding that Cardarine caused cancer.
In fact, here's what the researchers said in their own words:
“Increased mortality was seen with females given GW501516 at all doses, and uterine endometrial adenocarcinoma contributed to death in a high proportion of these animals. Neoplasms considered test-article related occurred in the liver, urinary bladder, thyroid, tongue, stomach, skin, Harderian glands, testes, ovaries, and uterus.”The Toxicologist, 48th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo [R]
In other words, the researchers conducting the animal studies themselves, basically found that Cardarine will cause cancer development in damn near every organ, and the health risks are too high to start conducting human studies.
Now, I'm here to tell you why this study is 100% wrong and totally flawed.
Debunking the Clinical Trials
At first glance, it seems that Cardarine does cause cancer in healthy subjects.
After all, after administering this research substance in animal studies, they observed massive cancer growth which led to the rats having impaired liver health, kidney disease, brain cell damage, cardiovascular diseases, poor blood circulation, and worse.
But, once you start breaking down the clinical studies, and looking at the human equivalent dose, among other factors, everything begins to fall apart.
Let's first look at the dosage they gave to these rats:
“GW501516, a non-genotoxic PPAR Delta Agonist, was assessed for carcinogenic potential by daily administration (oral gavage) to Han Wistar rats for a period of 104 weeks. Males were given 0, 5, 15, or 30mg/kg/day for the first 6 weeks of the study. For the remainder of the study the males were given 0, 5, 20, or 40mg/kg/day.“The Toxicologist, 48th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo [R]
Looking at this data, there's two MAJOR problems:
- The Dosage Administered
- The Timeframe Administered
Now, let's break each of these down and explain why it's bad science.
Human Equivalent Dose
The first issue with the study, is the dosage. They gave many these rats a dosage as high as 40mg/kg/day, which is an insanely high dosage no human subjects have ever taken.
To put that in perspective, that would be like an average human male (80kg) taking 3,200mg of Cardarine PER DAY, which is literally over 320x the recommended dosage.
Of course if you take 320x the recommended dosage, bad side effects will happen.
Most bodybuilders agree that if you want to pack on some muscle mass and shred some body fat in the process, a Cardarine dosage of around 10-20mg/day is ideal.
Aside from the fact that the human beings doing this study had no understanding of biological processes, gene expression, cell death, or cancer, another issue is the timeframe.
The average lifespan of a Wistar rat is around 3 years, and they were given this dosage of Cardarine for 2 years, which works out to 2/3 of their entire lifetime.
The human equivalent dose of this, is giving someone 3,200mg/day of Cardarine, for 60 years, and then wondering why they develop cancer cells everywhere in their body.
Wow. Who would've thought taking 320x the recommended dosage of something, for six decades would give you cancer! Do you see how dumb this study is now?
By now, hopefully you can see that the Cardarine cancer study was absolutely absurd. Of course if you give someone 320x the normal dose for 2/3 their life, it won't be good.
Cardarine overall excels at lipoprotein metabolism and increasing fat burning, but will also help improve the health of blood vessels, and encourage rapid weight loss, too.
If you want to buy Cardarine, we recommend you get it from this vendor, because we've vetted them many times before and they've always delivered high quality stuff.
